Improving implementation on at the campus level would be a great idea. Learner centered lessons have got to be the focus of most lessons. We have to be able to teach these kids how to learn, not how to memorize and just get by.
(Christy) after reading the documents below I think i would like to improve on my campus's staff development program. We don't have one and the only time most teachers get continuing ed is if they sign up for it and take it off campus. I would like to see more implementation at the campus level. Is this what part 2 is about? Plus, alot of the teachers in my school do not include learner centered lessons. What if I used my staff development activity to introduce a new program of each teacher doing a learner centered activity and showing ease of use in each content area. This would provide campus level staff development and allow each teacher the opportunity to participate. We could collaborate with partners and have a "class" weekly or bi weekly. (Darlene) Petra, did you find a CIP from your principal? The AEIS is on the web, but the CIP is either on you SCHOOL website, or in the principal's office. You have to read through the CIP and compare it with your AEIS to see how your school will address the areas where your school did not score well. That information goes in the third column. Administrative team at all schools usually focuses on CIP. Every year those teams are formulated well before anything else.

PDAS and MPDAS is too subjective. A lot of the scores reflect the feelings of the assessor toward the teacher being assessed and the lesson being taught.

(Darlene) Aarrrrrgh! This clas is VERY time consuming! That with the fact that our coach is a hard grader makes things really difficult!
(Meredith) I have not looked at this weeks yet. I have a feeling this class may be as time consuming as the Research class. WHY do they give us easy classes during the summer?
(Christy).....just submitted week one assignment....goodness have y'all looked at week two assignment? I have no idea, my campus had the weakest scores in 5th Science and the CIP objective was to implement more effective methods and instructional strategies...I have no idea where to begin!
(Darlene) Petra, did you find a CIP from your principal? The AEIS is on the web, but the CIP is either on you SCHOOL website, or in the principal's office. You have to read through the CIP and compare it with your AEIS to see how your school will address the areas where your school did not score well. That information goes in the third column. Email or call me if you need help.
(Petra) OK I added some of the other stuff and and I also added some more to the table. So look at that. I am starting to confuse myslelf. I am so ready to be done for this week. I guess we can just copy and past however we want.I also think that I will put all our names on there.
(Petra) I am having a hard time finding the CIP. It is supposed to be on that website on the assignment. I will email you if you can tell me what to do with the last part of Part 3. I got the rest done.
(Darlene) As I understand it, we just put the names of the two people we work with as Collaborator #1 and #2, put ALL of the information gathered by all of us in the state, local and suggestions columns.We don't break it down by person...just glop it all together. Petra, my principal sat down with me today and went over the CIP and the AEIS. He helped me answer the questions. If you need help, emai me. Same goes for you Christy!
(Petra) I am glad you can open the table document now. I took all the stuff out again since you all can see it. I am working on the third column. Haven't even started on the third part of the assignment yet.
(Darlene) Yes, Christi. You have to get the CIP from your principal. HISD had to turn theirs in last week, so you should be able to get an updated copy. I am confused now when I look at the table. I am leaving my stuff in black, but we have most of the same stuff you guys do. Christy, are you in HISD? I know Petra isn't. Petra, I can open the document. My question is, since there are only two columns, WHOSE comments do we put in the boxes? Is it collective and we just write the other two names?
(Christy) I still can not find the CIP...i was told i needed it from my principal. Is this true? Anyways, by looking at the changes on this page we needed more info instead of what I had put on there. I am confused now. (Petra) Ok, I tried put most every in purple into the chart in purple, I have not come up with anything for the third row. I am soooo tired.
(Meredith) I have entered my thoughts in green. I am so confused about most of this stuff. I am probably way off base. I am going to try and continue and see what else I can do tonight. Any ideas on the last table? I am TOTALLY confused about it. I cannot understand the AEIS and CIP document enough to intupret any data.

(Petra) Ok, now I feel really stupid, here is what I did, I thought we had to summarize all this again like on the first part. I finally got my computer working again. Here is what I did. This is probably all wrong. I just rewrote his lecture.

Christy)...I have added to the table, and by the way I JUST noticed part 3. Oh my, this class is going to be a long one. I feel so behind and it just started.
(CHRISTY) I am having trouble finding info on administrative procedures.....can someone point me in the right direction. I found it interesting that money should be set aside for staff development. I assume staff development was more in-depth training, but for my school district staff development training is considered being taught how to implement new products or programs, such as the new grading system....(quick and just touches the surface).
(Darlene) It will be Saturday for me also. I am still playing "catch up"! Will post Saturday after 9 or 10 p.m. I am working the SPCA Telethon all day until 8:00 p.m.

I worked on the summary part until I went cross eyed...I might have to take a few points off on this assignment. I am not sure I have enough time to get that detailed. UGH. Ok, we are to collaborate with colleagues to finish the table on page 4 of our assignment. We want to do that here? I know I need help. 1st week, new job, daughter starting Kinder...rough week. A list of expectations of what the principal wants to "see" (bulletin boards with student work, centers, groups, etc.) when they do a walk through needs to be given to each teacher at the beginning of the semester.
PDAS needs to be taken a little more seriously. It is still a dog and pony show. Evaluators most of the time do not want to hurt anyone's feelings, but being a little harder and truthful in evaluations just might help those teachers who need to improve.

Most of the time is aligned with TEKS, not curriculum, so teachers just teach to the TEKS(I mean TAKS)

Committees get together, set goals, make plans, and only a couple of them are ever implemented. Make decisions, set goals, and make it happen.
PDAS and MPDAS is too subjective. A lot of the scores reflect the feelings of the assessor toward the teacher being assessed and the lesson being taught.
Understanding the components of the TEA learning system will help the instructional leader focus on the "big picture."
Why is important that an instructional leader improve the components of the TEA learning system?
(Petra) The grades are posted now. I did end up with my 91 yet I never heard back about what I did wrong on the wiki and blog. I am just concerned since we have Dr. A. again and I am sure she will ask for the same thing again. How is everyone going in the law class. It is good to communicate with you guys again. I have missed you. Meredith you are good at all this. Look how great you did on editing our PSA.
(Darlene) I sent in my updates too. I made 50 on my blog post and 78 on my final reflections. I made an A but I don't know if any of my individual assignment grades changed or not. I sure would like to have more feedback! I had a 91 before the updates were sent, but I would sure like it to be higher!
(Meredith) I sent in all my updates...I don't know what else she wants us to do. I am so frustrated. I hope I did what I needed to do to at least have an A. I have an 87. I got a 50 on my blog posts and a 74 on my final assessment. I fixed it, now I am waiting for some info. I am just frustrated because this is the class I teach, I thought I was better than all this. Good luck.
(Meredith) This is not about the law class, this is about the Multimedia class. Anyone have a lower grade than expected at this moment? I emailed Abernathy an updated version of my Blog. I got counted off for that and for my final assessment. I hope it gets better. It's only an 87, but B's are not acceptable. I was shocked, as much work as we had to do.

6. (Darlene) Thank you for the update Petra. I think we have a top notch PSA! I hope school law is not like the research class. I got a bit concerned with their changing the rules so frequently. Maybe that's why we are told to "plan." hehehe. I've heard that it requires reading lots of cases but I don't know anything more than that.
